Langtang Valley is one of Nepal's most accessible high-altitude treks, weaving through lush forests, traditional Tamang villages, and soaring Himalayan views. 7‑Day Classic Itinerary

A solid week-long plan balances challenge, acclimatization, and cultural immersion.

Day 1: Kathmandu → Syabrubensi (1,550 m)

  • Transport: 6–7 hr scenic bus ride via Dhunche or drive.

  • Permits: Collect TIMS & Langtang National Park permits in Kathmandu or Syabrubensi.

Day 2: Syabrubensi → Lama Hotel (2,470 m)

  • Distance: ~15 km, ~6 hr.

  • Highlights: Cross rivers, trek through bamboo and rhododendron forests.

  • Stopover: Stay at Lama Hotel teahouse.

Day 3: Lama Hotel → Langtang Village (3,500 m)

  • Distance: ~15 km, ~5–6 hr.

  • Terrain: Steep ascent through forest to Ghodatabela, then alpine valley to Langtang. 

  • Overnight: Teahouse in Langtang village.

Day 4: Langtang → Kyanjin Gompa (3,870 m)

  • Distance: ~7 km, ~4 hr.

  • Clear alpine valley, mani‑walls, glacial moraine, ending in stunning monastery at Kyanjin.

Day 5: Acclimatization in Kyanjin – hike to Kyanjin Ri or Tserko Ri

  • To Kyanjin Ri (~4,600 m): ~2–3 hr round-trip.

  • To Tserko Ri (~4,985 m): ~5–6 hr round-trip.

  • Spectacular Himalayan vistas; visit cheese factory & Gompa. 

Day 6: Kyanjin Gompa → Bamboo (2,400 m)

  • Descend via Langtang village & Lama Hotel to Bamboo (or Ramche).

  • Around 6–7 hr trekking.

Day 7: Bamboo → Syabrubensi → Kathmandu

  • Short trek to Syabrubensi then drive back to Kathmandu (6–7 hr).

Optional Add‑on: Extend to Gosaikunda, turning this into 10–15 days (Langtang Circuit). 


 

Permits & Regulations

  • TIMS card: NPR 2,000 (foreigners) – mandatory.

  • Langtang NP permit: NPR 3,000 ($26 USD) 

  • Guide Requirement: Since February 2025 solo trekking is officially prohibited; guide strongly advised. Fees: approx $30–35/day including food & insurance.

Best Time to Trek

  • Spring (Mar–May): Rhododendrons bloom, clear skies.
